A Day of Climbing in the Dolomites

A beautiful day of climbing in the Dolomites, with two routes and 20 pitches on the limestone walls of Lastoi de Formin. Good climbing, good company and plenty of time to enjoy the mountains.

A Day of Climbing in the Dolomites

We headed up to Lastoi de Formin for a day of climbing in the Ampezzo Valley.

The original idea was to climb one route and see how the day went. Once we finished the first one, though, we still had plenty of energy and the weather was good, so we decided to do another.

In the end, we climbed two routes and 20 pitches altogether, from 5c up to 7a.

The rock was beautiful, as you would expect from this part of the Dolomites, and the routes gave us a nice mix of technical climbing, more delicate sections and a few harder moves. They are also well protected, which meant we could just enjoy the climbing and the day without overthinking things.

What I really liked was the feeling of the day. We weren't trying to fit in as much as possible or chase a particular goal. We climbed, took our time, stopped to look around and simply enjoyed being up there.

Two routes, 20 pitches, good climbing and a great day in the mountains.

Not a bad way to spend a day in the Dolomites.
